About This Class
This beginner-friendly sewing class is designed for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of sewing or trying a fun, creative weekend project. Whether you want to make your own clothing, create home décor, or explore a new hobby, this class will give you a strong foundation to get started.
All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
What You’ll Learn
Introduction to sewing tools and materials
How to use a sewing machine (threading machines and winding bobbins)
Understanding fabric and pattern selection
How to read and follow a simple sewing pattern
How to complete a beginner project (soup bowl cozies)
Class Schedule
9:00–9:30 AM | Getting to Know Your Tools
Sewing machine parts and functions
Basic sewing tools overview
Hands-on practice threading machines and sewing basic stitches
9:30–11:00 AM | Sewing Your First Project
Step-by-step guidance for sewing soup bowl cozies
Pinning, cutting, and sewing fabric pieces
Basic finishing techniques (trimming and pressing)
Tips for common sewing challenges
Sharing finished projects and next steps for continued learning
Materials
Sewing machines and all materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own sewing machine for basic setup and overview.
